I am one of those people who once I start a book, I finish it, but I just couldn't with "Lucky Broken Girl." I made it about 3/4 of the way through. First, I did the audio book and I think the author would have been better off hiring a professional to record this story. More than once I started to focus on the annoyingness of her voice and noticeable start and stop of recording sessions rather than the story. Then the story itself was depressing. I needed some glimmer of hope for Ruthie to keep me engaged. I am glad the author was able to persevere through all of these hardships, but this wasn't the book for me.
